Angling information

 

If fishing in the Skye and Lochalsh area, please adhere to Fisheries Management Scotland’s Best Handling Practices, and catch and release protocol.

 

The Skye and Lochalsh Rivers Trust does not issue fishing permits for angling in our area. There is no local District Salmon Fishery Board for Skye and Lochalsh. As such, fishing permits must be purchased from individual river proprietors or angling groups. Some of these groups can be found below.

Portree Angling Association – For visitors interested in fishing on Skye, the best starting point when researching angling opportunities is the Portree Angling Association. PAA controls fishing in a number of rivers across the northern and eastern sides of the island, as well as various hill lochs and the Storr Lochs. Permits can be purchased from Inside Out, The Green, Portree, IV51 9BY. More information can be found here

Glendale estate – Fishing rights for the Hamera and surrounding lochs. Permits can be purchased from Glendale shop and post office for £10 per day or £30 per week. Annual season pass can be purchased for £50 and lasts that years’ season, shop opening hours are 11am-6pm October to June, and 10am-7pm throughout the summer. Catch and return base only, catch record sheets are given out with permits and catches must be recorded and submitted back to the shop or to the clerk by email (contact details are on the record sheets).

Sleat hill lochs and coastal fishing – Permits can be purchased from Hotel Eilean Iarmain.

Clan Donald, Sleat – Clan Donald Estate has a number of hill lochs, permits can be purchased from the Clan Donald office for £20. Fly fishing only.
